“Christianity is not a religion; it’s not a system; it’s not an ethical idea; it’s not a psychological phenomenon.  It’s a person.  If you trust Christ, start watching your attitudes and actions because Jesus Christ is in the business of changing lives.”  (Source: “More Than a Carpenter,” by Josh McDowell and Sean McDowell)

“To love God and to love others.  They are the same things, really.  We cannot love God without loving His children.  Neither can we love God without serving His children.”  (Source:  “The Christmas Box Miracle,” by Richard Paul Evans.)

Christianity came to the New World with European colonists and remains strong in countries such as Brazil, where a colossal statue of Jesus Christ is located.  My following painting depicts this world famous statue of Jesus Christ in Brazil.  It is the 5th largest statue of statue of Jesus Christ in the world, 39.6 meters (130 feet) tall, including its 9.5 meters (31 feet) pedestal, and 30 meters wide.

Jesus said, “Do not be concerned from morning until evening and from evening until morning about what you will wear.”  Living according to what others think or in concern about how you appear will not bring you either health or true happiness.  You must learn to be who you are and to meet all circumstances with equanimity.  With life’s wisdom, we discover that often the greatest blessings are bestowed upon us thorough the natural circumstances of suffering in life.  While we might prefer the auspicious times that bring pleasure and ease, our soul often benefits more through the hardships we endure than the brighter times.  (Source:  “The Gnostic Gospel of St. Thomas,” By: Tau Malachi)

Christmas Candle

Light a Christmas candle

And let it warmly glow

From out a friendly windowpane

Across new-fallen snow.

Someone lone in passing

Will catch the strong, bright beam

To cheer the rugged path ahead

And set the heart to dream.

Let the warm, glad light shine

From your own candle’s ray

Glow deep within your loving heart

On each and every day.

Light a Christmas candle

To glow within your heart

And touch the life of someone dear

With blessings to impart.

Oh, it’s Christmastime again,

Just feel it in the air,

Everyone is filled with joy

And goodwill’s everywhere.

For it’s the merry season,

The one of peace and cheer,

When hearts are really kinder

Like no other time of year.

If we could only practice

This warmth the whole year through,

We would honor Jesus’ birth

In the Christmas meaning true.

My Christmas Joy

The joy of Christmas lives in me –

A joy of the world can’t show.

It’s not in snow or mistletoe,

Or in the gifts that I bestow.

It’s not in pretty packages,

Or tinsel garland trees.

It’s something much more precious,

That just brings me to my knees.

It’s Jesus, the joy of Christmas

Who lives in me so joyfully.

A rich and priceless treasure –

That’s what Christmas means to me.
