The life of Jesus was tumultuous and full of hardships.  He was falsely accused by Pharisees and persecuted by Roman soldiers.  Yet He always said, “Peace be with you….My peace I give to you.”

The goal of our spiritual practice is to transform our wandering mind into the “unconditioned mind” that is not affected by our environment.

Jesus said, “What good is it to gain the whole world if you lose your soul?” (Matthew16:26; Mark 8:36)

It is time that we embark on the pathless path with original mind.  Having a new life goal implies having a new value system and living our daily lives with mindfulness.  (Source:  “Thunderous Silence – A Formula for Ending Suffering,” by: Dosung Yoo)

The following image is my painting of “Madonna and Child.” (Source: Our Lady in Art, 2014 Calendar, by: Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.)  Nothing equals the love of a mother to her child.  The image of “Madonna and Child” is a symbol of nurturing and caring.

 Understanding

It’s not hard to be understanding –

Put yourself in another’s place;

They may be going through burdens

That you have yet to face.

You may have been blessed with wisdom

Or more courage to endure,

You may be blessed with strength and wealth

While they are weak and poor.

So never turn your ear away

Or refuse to lend a hand…

Put yourself in another’s place

And you will understand.

It Takes Work

It takes some work to make a friend,

To cultivate the love;

It helps to have a giving heart

And guidance from above.

Then let God have His way with it –

He’ll form a stronger tie,

He’ll make a friend who’s there for you,

Who’s always standing by.

He’ll lead you surely as you tread

Each path the friendship takes,

And in the future you will know

The best are those He makes.

A Friend Like You

Only a friend like you

Would do the things you do.

Through each and every care,

Your love and strength were there.

Recalling treasured years,

The laughter and the tears,

No gift that could be bought

Could match the joy you brought.

May blessings by the score

Lay at your front door

For making dreams come true

When I found a friend in you.

Keep on Going

No matter what the day brings

Or what may come along,

Just put a smile upon your face,

And sing a happy song…

No matter what the day brings

Or what may lie in store,

Just fill your heart with hope and peace

And happiness galore…

No matter what the day brings

Or what may be your cares,

Just reach to God and He will send

An answer to your prayers…

No matter what the day brings

Or what may touch your soul,

Just walk with Jesus all the way

And you will reach your goal…

And keep on going!
