THE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER
The Chinese use a lunar calendar, with 12 animals comprising the Chinese Zodiac. Each year is associated with a different animal. Persons born in a Rooster year are said to be shrewd, industrious, outspoken and definite when making decisions. Many are extravagant and a bit of the dreamer.
In a Rooster year, it is important to consider all the positives and negatives before making major decisions. Read the small print carefully, because that is where unpleasant surprises reside. You should focus on the future, achieve goals and strive for self-improvement and social reforms. It takes hard work to maintain partnerships begun in a Rooster year. The best strategy for success is to avoid being critical. Roosters enjoy attention, and this is reflected in the new fashions. Toss out those droopy sweatsuits. Flaunt your images. Wear clothes and jewelry that make you appear attractive and successful.
A year linked with the Rooster, especially the Year of the Fire Rooster – 2017, is one where we can move forward boldly, making big plans, with an increased possibility of achieving great things. So, during 2017, be prepared to have your adventurous spirit ticked up several notches, as you are ready, eager, and willing for new and exciting endeavors. You may find that your impulsivity level also is set on high, so make extra sure to use your head when you are making life choices for yourself and for those that you love. Your heart will lead your head, but both still need to work together.

People born in the Years of Rooster are enthusiastic, outspoken, honest, and are always busy. They are courageous, have a warlike disposition and represent the warmth and life of the Universe. They like to be admired and flattered. They always appear attractive, are sociable and love to receive attention. They are confident, aggressive, and are most at home in a crowd.
Generally speaking, they are quite picky and always striving for perfection. They are very straightforward, can be selfish and eccentric, and have a tendency to be blunt for their own good. With Rooster, what you see is exactly what you get. There are no hidden depth to the Rooster. All Roosters are concerned about their clothing and appearance, and enjoy grooming and preening. They may appear conservative, but are obsessed with their look. Though sharp, practical and resourceful, the Roosters also like to dream, and like to challenge beyond their capabilities. They will never abandon their dreams.
Rooster people are passionate, sincere, and loyal. They are trusting and supportive mates. They always keep their promises, and are always true to their word. They make great hosts and adore entertaining.
They are pioneers in spirit, and are deep and quick thinkers. They devote to work and quest after knowledge. Since they do not trust others, they prefer to work alone. Although they may display an adventuresome exterior, their interior make-up is not suitable for high adventure.
Rooster people are hard workers, shrewd, and definite in decision making. They tend to seem boastful to others because they often speak their minds. Roosters are always up, out and doing something. You rarely see a relaxed Rooster sitting in the living room, doing nothing. They are multi-talented and can become accomplished in many different ways.
They are diligent, efficient, and typically succeeding in anything they set their minds on doing. They are very observant and have a very keen “sixth sense.” Because their minds are cautious and skeptical, they also make excellent trouble-shooters.
The Rooster is the tenth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, and corresponds to the Western signs of Virgo and Libra. The intrinsic element of Rooster is metal, its direction is West and its nature is Yin.

The following are my auspicious paintings for celebrating the Year of the Rooster.
I visited Hsi-Lai Temple (Hacienda Heights, Los Angeles County) for the celebration of Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rooster, which began on January 28, 2017. The following two images show the beautiful displays and decorations of the Year of the Rooster in the Temple. (02/04/2017)
