EGGSHELL AND CUP PAINTINGS OF BUDDHA AND KUAN YIN

In the night of 03/28/2016, I have kept dreaming of those eggshell and cup paintings of Buddha and Kuan Yinwhich I have done freehand without making a draft many years ago.

On the following day, I took out those eggshell and cup paintings of Buddha and Kuan Yin from the bookshelf, and used my smartphone to take photos of those unique artwork.  I also took photos of two large paintings of Buddha and Kuan Yin which were framed in glass.

How fortunate I was to have the auspicious dreams during the night of 03/28/2016, and how happy I was to present you with the following photos.

Because we are fundamentally alone when we meditate, it’s easy to think of Buddhism as a solitary path.  That’s a mistake.  The Buddha said, “Having good friends is the whole of the Holy Life.”  In other words, friendship is the most important element in the spiritual path.  Everything else naturally flows from it.  I appreciate the truth and beauty of this teaching more and more as the years go by.

The Buddha and Kuan Yin (who is the Buddhist Goddess of Great Compassion) are my great spiritual teachers, and also my special spiritual friends.  I have many good spiritual friends at Hsi-Lai Temple located in Hacienda Heights, Los Angeles County, where I visit frequently.  My previous good neighbor Mr. Henry Hong, who is a devout Christian, is also one of my good spiritual friends.

Real friendship is profound.  Real friendship is always spiritual.  Spiritual friendship is boundless, empty, open and free.  Spiritual friendship is a source of special joy.
