On the right, there is a pair of red scrolls. The right red scroll has 4 characters “Bai Nian He Hao” which mean “Enjoying a happy and harmonious marriage till the end of the time.” The left red scroll has 4 characters “Yong Jie Tong Hsin” which mean “Tying the marriage knot with one heart and the love of a life time.” On the bottom, there is the dancing Phoenix. On the top, there is a character in gold ink “Hsi” (pronounced similar to she in English) meaning “Double-Happiness” and a big gold Yuan (unit of ancient Chinese money). Above the red scrolls, there is the all-powerful Dragon flying towards the Phoenix. “Double-Happiness” is also an auspicious symbol for enhancing marriage life and strengthening relationship luck. The Dragon and Phoenix represent the Yin and Yang symbols of Chinese mythology. The Dragon is male vitality and fertility, while the Phoenix is Yin splendour and female beauty. Together, these two creatures symbolize peace and prosperity, the coming of opportunity, and an ultimate symbol for a fruitful marriage blessed with lasting happiness. It is said that red envelope will bring good luck both to the person who receives it and the person who gives it.
