When we think of the early monks and nuns going about their daily begging rounds, we may think of the two sides of human passion: our insatiable hunger and the power of connecting with one another. There is never a moment in which passion is absent; we are swimming in it. The challenge is to figure out how to spend less of our time trapped in the constricted form of passion and more of our time in the loving-kindness form of passion. This painting depicted a Buddha statue towers over a tiny Kathmandu park, symbolizing the ever-present healing power of the Buddha. Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is considered one of the most sacred Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world.
