There is something genuinely good about being you. You may not like every little thing about yourself, but overall you have an honest heart and you can connect with it through the practice of meditation. This painting depicts a sculpture of a seated buddha from second century, located in the city of Bodhgaya in Bihar, India. The gesture of His right hand pointing to the earth suggests that the sculpture represents Shakyamuni Buddha. This is the gesture with which the Buddha summoned the Earth as witness to his realization of Buddhahood. The hint of a smile on the lips indicates a recognition of Truth. Bodhgaya is famous for being the place of Shakyamuni Buddha’s attainment of Enlightenment and became the teaching Buddha of the current cosmic era.
